Everything about my turtle lighter is great. Only downside is the "-" and "+" on the bottom is stamped in reverse. Even comes ina really kick ass box

Checking the "+" and "-" symbols for adjusting the flame size with some of the Golden Turtle Lighters from our end, we understand where the confusion comes from. Since there's not enough room to put the symbols circling the butane valve like on our other lighters, we had to place the symbols on the bottom of the lighter. When the butane valve is upright, and the bottom of the lighter (where the symbols are) is facing you, they are orientated in the correct direction. However, if the lighter is held the other way around we can see how the symbols are now flipped. To make it easier to remember, turning the butane valve counter-clockwise will always increase the flame size, and turning it clockwise will always decrease the flame size. Product looks more "gold" online and more "yellow" in person, but you get what you pay for.

The turtle lighter is cute, but even after we adjusted the length of the flame with the key, according to the instructions, it continues to blast off a very tall and dangerous flame before spitting fire in all directions and then finally settling down to the correct size. It’s dangerous.

Hi Courtney, thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologize for the large flame on your Golden Turtle Lighter. We understand you've already tried adjusting the flame size, however we just want to make sure the flame size is being adjusted correctly as this usually fixes such issues. Please make sure you are turning the actual butane valve on the lighter, and not the actual screw that holds the lighter together. To fix the flame size, please turn the flame adjustment dial clockwise, all the way down until it stops turning. This will likely take multiple turns to turn the valve down all the way. Once the dial is turned down all the way, refill your lighter, and slowly turn up the flame size by turning it counter-clockwise (10-15 degrees at a time). You can also follow these steps shown in this video. If you have followed all of these steps and are still having troubles with your lighter, please let us know. We've also reached out to you over email!

Got the lighter a couple weeks ago and only used it 3 times, now it doesn’t work.

It isn’t working for me. I contacted y’all and got a very comprehensive e-mail back about how to trouble shoot it. I was using the wrong tip to fill the lighter with butane but I got that sorted. The problem now seems to be that it leaks butane out of the mouth. I adjusted the flame to the lowest setting and no matter how much butane I put in, it immediately runs out when I light it. I then filled it and didn’t light it— just held it up to my ear— and there was a hissing sound coming from its mouth.
